Senior Architectural Designer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Architectural Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technical designer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, mentoring others, and delivering high-quality residential design solutions.

You will lead projects from early concept through to planning submission, ensuring that all technical drawings and documentation meet the highest standards and comply with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Produce high-quality technical drawing packages for residential projects.
Quality check and ensure the compliance of Building Regulations packages.
Communicate proactively and clearly with clients, providing updates and professional advice.
Oversee projects as Project Lead, guiding them from concept through to planning submission while managing client expectations and potential risks.
Provide expert guidance on planning legislation, building regulations, drainage, party wall matters, and other technical aspects.
Train and mentor junior members of the building regulations team, setting the standard for excellent technical design.
Collaborate closely with internal teams by proposing new ideas, offering technical insight, and staying ahead of industry trends.
Handle client questions or objections in a patient, confident, and professional manner.

About You

We recognise that every designer brings unique strengths, but to succeed in this role you should ideally have:

Excellent technical knowledge in private residential architectural design, particularly home extensions and renovations.
Revit proficiency with a minimum of one year of practical experience on live projects.
Strong and in-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
People management experience, particularly mentoring or supervising junior designers or technologists.
The ability to perform well in a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
A positive attitude and proactive mindset.

CAD Technician / Draughtsperson

Type: Freelance / Contract

Location: Hybrid / Remote with occasional office collaboration

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician / Draughtsperson to join our team on a freelance, hybrid basis. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings for residential and small commercial projects, including Planning Permission Drawings and Building Regulation Drawings.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience using AutoCAD and a solid understanding of UK Building Regulations, ensuring drawings meet local authority requirements and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and develop Planning Permission drawings for submission to local planning authorities
Produce detailed Building Regulation drawings and technical construction packages
Create accurate 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD
Interpret architectural concepts and translate them into clear technical drawings
Ensure all drawings comply with UK Building Regulations and planning requirements
Work closely with architects, designers, and project stakeholders
Revise and update drawings based on client or authority feedback
Maintain organised drawing records and documentation

About You

Proven experience as a CAD Technician / Draughtsperson within the UK construction or architectural sector
Strong and in-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Experience producing Planning Permission and Building Regulation drawings
Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Good communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

Experience with residential extension and refurbishment projects
Familiarity with UK planning submission processes
Ability to work in a hybrid or remote freelance environment
